  • The third debate will close the WATER/MIGRATION discussions. The debate will be dedicated to the current situation in international waters, which are both an important and a dangerous stage on migration routes. More and more often, waters that are international borders are becoming crime scenes and areas where migration is criminalised. However, they are also areas where activist and solidarity actions are taken against extreme right-wing boats aiming to drown those who are seeking refuge in Europe.

Our guests will present the current situation and what is being done in international waters. Solidarity actions do not only support organising rescue operations in the Mediterranean, but also involve independent research, monitoring and documenting crimes against migrants and events that violate human rights.

During the debate, we will talk about creating effective networks and using our speakers’ direct experience to lobby for changes in migrant protection.
